Unbeatable value for fencing

Check out our new fencing pales. They’re a sleek and slimline 20mm x 100mm, available in both black and brown, at lengths of 1800mm.

Fencing made from British Recycled Plastic planks and posts

Until now, 30mm was the slimmest profile we supplied in black and brown, and although it’s a great weight for slats and panels which have to bear some weight or pressure (we use them for seat slats and raised bed kits, for instance), they’re unnecessarily heavy for use as fencing pales, which are non-weight bearing.

Our new 20mm x 100mm pales – being 10mm slimmer – are 33% lighter than the equivalent 30mm sections. This means they’re 33% cheaper, making them the most cost-effective fencing pale we’ve ever offered. In addition, that 33% reduction in weight represents an equivalent drop in transport-associated carbon emissions, so they’re as good for the planet as they are for your pocket.

Why choose recycled plastic for fencing, instead of timber?

Our recycled plastic lumber is the perfect choice for fencing and here’s why:

  • Recycled plastic absorbs no moisture.
  • It will never rot, swell, split or splinter.
  • Our recycled plastic doesn’t support the growth of mould or algae.
  • Paint won’t “bind” to it, so graffiti jet washes off in a jiffy.
  • It needs no expensive, laborious annual treatments.
  • In fact, it requires no maintenance, whatsoever!
  • Outlasts timber, around 5 times over.
  • Guaranteed for 25 years.

Surely everyone still prefers timber?

Absolutely not! Councils, housing associations and government ministries are all making the switch to recycled plastic. Why? Because it drives down their total-life costs by reducing the maintenance/refurbishment budgets and because it’ll never need to be replaced – not in any of our lifetimes. Next time you’re travelling down one of our motorways, check out the buttresses and revetments at laybys – Highways England are now replacing many outgoing timber structures with recycled plastic, knowing that they’ll never need to maintain their fencing nor replace it for many decades.

About British Recycled Plastic

We’re proud to be trusted by many large and respected organisations – among them, NHS, Highways England, Ministry of Defence, National Trust, Wildlife Trusts, RSPB and The Conservation Volunteers. Our team’s collective years of experience and expertise will ensure you’re provided with the right product for your needs at some of the best prices in the sector.

The quality of our recycled plastic fencing posts, rails and pales are second to none. Our 100% solid, recycled plastic is vastly superior to any composite materials on the market – while composite lasts longer than timber, it still contains degradable elements such as wood pulp and sawdust – and will outlast them several times over. Post-consumer recycled plastic may be a little cheaper than our material, but contains variable and mixed materials which have not been blended to the same exacting standards required to produce the consistent, high-performance properties of our lumber.

Here’s how we make our products.

Sustainability

We’re the first company in our sector to commission a full life cycle analysis of our product, so we understand how our process, operation and products contribute to our overall carbon footprint. This means we’re constantly reviewing our range and methods to ensure that we’re operating at the optimum balance of quality and sustainability. Our manufacturing facility uses 100% renewable energy and even our digital assets are held on servers running on renewables. Right down to the loo rolls in our office, we’re committed to sustainable practice.

Buy British, Buy Independent

We’re a British company to the core. Even better than that, we’re from Yorkshire! Every little, last, tiny part of our operation is British, with absolutely nothing imported or exported. The waste we recycle is UK-sourced, so we’re directly tackling the mountain of UK waste, saving it from being burned, landfilled, or shipped overseas to be dealt with by vulnerable economies. This is a principle of great importance to us, not because we’re at all provincial (we’re really not!), but because we believe shipping our waste overseas causes two huge issues. Firstly, it exploits vulnerable economies, swamping them with foreign waste, rendering them unable to develop sufficient infrastructure to manage their own waste, let alone ours as well. It’s no wonder that so much ends up in the ocean or being burned in developing countries. Secondly, by shipping waste overseas, we’re making it “out of sight, out of mind”: it’s too easy for us to turn a blind eye to the multitude of ways in which we use unnecessary, single-use plastic and carelessly discard it. We want to encourage the development of sustainable waste management programmes, worldwide, as well as reducing the amount of unnecessary new waste in circulation.
