Cricket fans know a thing or two about seating. If your sport of choice can last the best part of a week, you’re going to need to know that your… er… most vital body part for sitting down is well catered for. The furniture’s also going to need to withstand all weathers (we all know that English cricket matches rarely make it through ten minutes without rain stopping play) and be sturdy enough to seat fans and all their daily provisions for generations to come.

Beautiful Community Space

Clitheroe Cricket Club make the most of their beautiful outdoor space with recycled plastic benches right along the field boundary, as our intrepid reporter discovered when he headed north on the night of their Guy Fawkes bonfire (nothing to do with the hog roast, outdoor bar and fireworks being laid on – Ed).  With seating enough for dozens and plaques celebrating and commemorating members of the plub past and present, they’ve really made the most of their space.

If the bonfire turnout is anything to go by, they may well need even more in future – around a thousand people turned out to be wowed by fireworks, warmed by fire and wobbled by beer from the excellent local Bowland Brewery (you kept your wits about you though right? …right? – Ed.)

It was great to see the community gathered for such a fun night, and we trust a great contribution was made to the club’s coffers. They’re clearly working hard to ensure a bright future for cricket and their community, with zero-maintenance outdoor furniture right at the heart of it for decades to come.
